A Voice for Voiceless

Dear Families,

Happy New Year!  Hoping you all had a peace and joy-filled Christmas with your families.  We are all happy to see your kiddos again and attack the rest of the second quarter.

Right after midterms this month, students in grades 7-12 will depart for the March for Life in Washington D.C.  This year’s theme is “Love Saves Lives,” a succinct statement of what this event is about.  The March, often associated strictly with the issue of abortion, does an excellent job of expanding our understanding of the term “pro-life.”  To say one is pro-life means not only that we value life from conception, but that we do our part to ensure the freedom and dignity with which God created us for people of all ages.  Pope John Paul II famously summed this up in his statement that “a society will be judged on the basis of how it treats its weakest members; and among the most vulnerable are surely the unborn and the dying.”

Outreach for the March often expresses the goal of coming together in this way as being “a voice for the voiceless.”  Every year, it makes me so proud that our students are willing to endure the discomforts of a long bus ride, standing out in the cold, and sleeping on a floor to stand up in this way.  Please keep them in your prayers as they make this pilgrimage.

A reminder that coffee hour with the leadership team will take place on Tuesday, January 9th at 7:45 a.m. in the St. Joseph Center.  We really look at this event as an opportunity to have face time with families, and hope that you will consider joining us with your feedback.

Sincerely,

Katie Richardson
