Coach Reflects Upon Soccer Season

"God is in control....God is in control.... God is in control...." were thoughts that had to be forcefully placed into my own heart on many occasions during this past soccer season. There were many instances in which the Holy Spirit gently reminded me that I am not in control of how our team would finish, because the recipe for success this soccer season seemingly called for an extra dose of superior strategy. In my mind I thought I am going to strategically pave our way to glory, for we have too much inexperience to compete. Moreover, the players exerted so much effort during preseason traini...

Knights Leave It All On The Field

The Knights suffered another heart wrenching loss against Jesse Remington yesterday, definitively closing the door on a potential championship. The first half was full of back and forth action between both teams, with Mount Royal jumping out to an early lead, forfeiting it on a PK, and then recapturing it by the conclusion of the half. In second half play, Jesse Remington was relentless in attacking our net  during the crucial moments immediately following halftime. The momentum assuredly switched into their hands, and it was difficult for the knights to overcome. Jesse Remington capitalized o...

Knights Enter Playoffs With Momentum

After a few growing pains early in the season, the Knights are fully tuned, locked, and ready to go for their second-round match-up against a familiar foe: Jesse Remington. The Knights advanced through the first round, albeit without playing an actual game, and should have all their energy savored for this decisive game. If the Knights lose, they will play for 3rd place in the final standings on Saturday, November 13th. If the Knights win, they will play for 1st place against either Holy Family Academy, Parker, or Tri City. Inevitably, the likelihood of advancing is largely based upon our reso...

A Student Reflects On Service Experience

Going to serve the poor and needy at Cor Unum was an inspiring experience. I was given the task of serving people their meals and making sure that there was a new place set for the next people to come. At first I looked at as a good chance to collect service hours for school, but as soon as I served the first table of people my perspective changed. One would think working at a soup kitchen is a depressing undertaking, something that would dampen your spirits as you were exposed to the poverty of the people. It was actually exactly the opposite. I was filled with joy at the opportunity I was gi...

Sizzling Finale to Regular Season

The Knights finished the regular season on a high note, with a decisive 3-2 victory over visiting Jesse Remington at home. This game was action-packed, stacked with timely saves by a rookie keeper Matt Bocko, as well as some sensational offensive demonstrations put on by Pablo Marquez. The defense was sound and simple once again, led by the resurgence of Joe Wallace and Matt Begin, who protected the middle of our defensive area with intensity and determination. This was a key game primarily because it propels us into the playoffs with a great deal of positive momentum. Thus, we finish the regu...

Last Week of Regular Season for Knights

Please join us for our last tune up before the playoffs this upcoming Wednesday, as we will compete against Jesse Remington at home. Kickoff is set for 3:00pm. Jesse Remington is the second place team in our league. We nearly stole the show when we traveled to their field earlier in the season, almost overcoming a 3-0 deficit in the final 5 minutes of the game. We stand in 3rd place currently, but need to gather and retain some confidence against the higher ranked teams in our league. We also would like to make another plea for spiritual support. Our student-athletes have tried tremendously ha...

Cor Unum Meal Center

We are posting a link to the site where nearly a dozen of our students will be volunteering on this upcoming Saturday, October 30th. Below, a description from their website expresses the distinctiveness of the type of service our students will be performing: "We serve hundreds of people every day, with a small core staff and a large army of generous volunteers. We opened the doors of the Cor Unum Meal Center on September 30, 2006 and in our first four years we served over 650,000 guests! At the current rate of meal service, approximately 200,000 meals are served annually at Cor Unum. Cor Unum...
