MRA Summer Tour 2013

MRA is on tour!

We are visiting local fairs and farmer's markets throughout the Lake Sunapee Region this summer. We would like to extend a special thank you to the organizers of the Bradford Independence Day Fair, which we attended on 7/6. We brought some of the resources we use in our high school civics course, including copies of the United States Constitution and the Declaration of Independence. We also shouldn't forget the Newport Chamber of Commerce. We attended "Chamber Day" on June 22nd.

Look for us at the Wilmot Farmer's Market on July 20th, as well as New London Hospital Days.

End of Year Events Prove to be Fun and Rewarding

It has been a busy finale to the school year! Here is a recap of the week's activities:

On Monday students in grades 7 - 11 completed final exams, but not without receiving some divine assistance courtesy of Fr. Rene celebrating the final Mass of the school year. Fr. Rene even advised the students (based on the scripture readings for the day) that God was with them in their afflictions. We love his sense of humor!

Our annual Field Day tradition continued on Wednesday in spite of the weather, as students from all grade levels were divided into a team challenge. High school students served as te...

A Midsummer Night's Dream Nets Huge Turnout

The (hopefully first annual!) Spring Play on May 23-24 was a definite success, with over 170 total in attendance. There were a lot of laughs (from backstage as well as the audience!) as the students gave their all to play characters that have entertained audiences for more than 400 years, and perhaps most credibly at all, in Shakespeare's original words. Many thanks to all those who came to support - we're already looking forward to next year's production!

May Crowning 2013

MRA was blessed to host Bishop Peter Libasci for our annual May Crowning celebration. Fr. Rene Butler concelebrated Mass with Bishop Libasci, Mary was processed around the gymnasium, each member of the school community brought a flower to Mary (with a special intention from the Bishop), a litany in honor to the Blessed Virgin was chanted, and we renewed our school's consecration to Our Lady. Afterwards, the entire student body ate lunch and cake together. It was truly a memorable day in MRA history!

Virtue Formation Provides Effective and Lasting Prevention

The term “bullying” has worked itself into our colloquial speech in recent years, with good reason. Bullying is recognized to be a prevalent and serious problem among school-aged children and is consequently the subject of numerous websites, public service announcements and anti-bullying campaigns.

Visitors to Mount Royal often comment on the polite and helpful attitude shown by students.  It is common to see students holding the door for one another, showing concern if another student is hurt, assisting students younger than themselves.  An environment of respect is cultivated and expected…in...
